Violet Berg, age 93, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Violet Alice Olson was born February 27, 1916, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Allie (Severson) Olson and grew up on a farm near Pelican Lake.She married Melvin R. Berg in 1936.They lived on a farm in Maplewood Township, raising their five children, until 1972.They moved to Pelican Rapids in 1972, with the farm becoming part of the Maplewood State Park.Violet was a charter member of the Pelican Rapids Baptist Church.Violet will be sadly missed by her children:Vern (Beverly) Berg, Medford, MN, Janice Berg, Savage, Minnesota, Gene Berg, Riverside, CA, Lee Berg, Savage, MN, and Leon (Mary) Berg, Bloomington, MN; three grandchildren:Cary (Jackie) Berg, Medford, MN, Kris (Kevin) Cotton, San Antonio, TX, and Sam Berg, Bloomington, MN; five great-grandchildren:Marian, Brody, and Jenna Berg, and Andrew and Lauren Cotton; brother, Douglas Olson, Roseville, MN; sisters:Gladys Skogen, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Ruby Hulet, Blaine, MN; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, George and Allie Olson; brothers: Mert, Walter, Ernie, Orvan and Earl; sisters: Ruth Thomas and Bernice Stokstad.Memorials are preferred to the Pelican Rapids Baptist Church and Pelican Valley Health Center.Blessed Be The Memory Of Violet Berg
