Mary Ann Swenson, age 86, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society of Pelican Rapids.Mary Ann Haarstick was born September 28, 1922, in Erhards Grove, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Ottille (Vigen) Haarstick, she was number 7 of 8 children.She was baptized and confirmed at Bagstevold Lutheran Church in Erhard.Mary Ann was married to Orville Braun on June 22, 1943.They had one son, Larry.Orville died November 11, 1944, as a war casualty.On March 13, 1949, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Lloyd Swenson.They had one son, Michael.They farmed in Erhards Grove for several years before moving to Erhard where they owned and operated several businesses.Mary Ann worked for the school lunch program and worked at West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids until she retired.After retirement they spent winters in Edinburg, Texas.Mary Ann entered the Good Samaritan Society of Pelican Rapids on March 22, 2001, where she resided until the time of her death.Lloyd died July 8, 2001.Mary Ann enjoyed crafts, especially ceramics and embroidery.She liked working in her flower garden and taking camping trips with her family.She was active in ladies-aid and circle at Grace Lutheran Church where she was a lifetime member.Mary Ann is survived by two sons:Larry (Karen) Swenson, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Michael (Linda) Swenson, Eau Claire, WI; 8 grandchildren: Rod (Stacie), Steve, Jeff, Jill, Peter (Renae), Sara (David) Teigtmeir, Laura, and Jennifer; 9 great-grandchildren;brother-in-law, James Lockhart, Dells, OR; 2 sisters-in-law, Laverne Haarstick, Pelican Rapids, MN and Eleanor Swenson, Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; an infant granddaughter, Pamela; 2 brothers and 5 sisters.Blessed Be The Memory Of Mary Ann Swenson
