Marion Bruns

Marion Bruns, age 87, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin died on Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Marion Doris Benton was born July 19, 1921 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Elmer Ernst and Patience Marion (Lee) Benton. Marion graduated from Bay View High School in South Milwaukee in 1939. From 1939 to 1940 she worked as a clerk for Milwaukee County. For a number of years Marion worked for Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company as a Comptometer. She decided to attend the Baptist Missionary Training School in Chicago, Illinois and graduated in 1952. Then Marion moved to Denver, Colorado, where she worked as a missionary. On August 28, 1954 she was united in marriage with Jay Leslie Bruns in Milwaukee. After raising her family, Marion worked as a bookkeeper at National Auto Spring in Milwaukee until her retirement. Jay died on November 30, 1994. In November 2007 Marion moved to the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Marion was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Milwaukee teaching Sunday school for a number of years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and playing board and card games.Marion is survived by her son, Tom (Deb) Bruns, Pelican Rapids, MN; granddaughter, Kathleen (William) Duppler, Duluth, MN; grandson, Zachary Bruns, Madison, WI; brother, Alan Benton, Muskego, WI; sister-in-law, Dorothy Benton, Madison, WI; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Bruns; brother, Robert Benton; sisters-in-law, Ruth Benton and Rena (Bruns) Goss; brother-in-law, Fred Goss.In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army.Blessed Be The Memory Of Marion Bruns
