George Vohnoutka, age 78, a resident of Pelican Rapids, formerly of Jordan, Minnesota, died Sunday, November 29, 2009, from congestive heart failure at home under hospice care.George John Vohnoutka was born September 30, 1931, in St. Patrick (New Prague), Minnesota, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Plavich) Vohnoutka. He attended grade school in St. Patrick and graduated from New Prague High School in 1947. He was drafted into the Army Infantry Division in 1952, served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He continued to serve until 1960 in the reserves. George married Marietta Pauly on May 4, 1955, at St. Joe Catholic Church in Jordan.They made their home in Jordan, where George worked as a carpenter for many years. George and Marietta moved to Pelican Rapids in 2000.George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers and his sons in the Ivanhoe hunting camp.George is survived by his wife, Marietta Vohnoutka, Pelican Rapids, MN; sons: Randy Vohnoutka, New Prague, MN, Ken Vohnoutka, Aurora, SD, and Kevin (Holly) Vohnoutka, Detroit Lakes, MN; daughters: Shirley (Tom) Herrmann, Belle Plaine, MN, Debbie (Kevin) Heinrich, Shakopee, MN, Sharon (Bill) Florea, Lonsdale, MN, and Gloria Bandy, Jordan, MN; fifteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth; brother, Richard Vohnoutka; sisters: Marion Rafdal and Angie Busch; sister-in-law, Phyllis Vohnoutka; and great-grandchild, Blake Kes.Blessed Be The Memory Of George Vohnoutka
