Mattie Rhey

Mattie Rhey, age 90, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, ather home.Mattie Sue Burchfiel was born August 1, 1919, in Benton, Tennessee, the daughter of Arnold and Anna (Ratcliff) Burchfiel.She lived most of her life in Castro Valley, California.On February 27, 1939, Mattie was united in marriage to William E. Johnston.They raised their family in California.While living in Castro Valley she was a member of the Eastern Stars and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.Mattie was united in marriage to Gilbert Winje in 1981.Mattie moved from California to live almost 20 years in Surprise, Arizona. In 2005, Mattie married Melvin Rhey.She moved to Pelican Rapids in 2008.Mattie traveled all over the United States, visiting 49 of the 50 states.She loved playing the organ.Mattie is survived by her daughters:Wilma Manley and Betty Worthen, both of Pelican Rapids, MN; 4 grandchildren:Kim Andreade, Bill and Clara Manley, Tracie Donovan, and Anna Hansen; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 4 sisters:Ruth, Grace, Edrie, and Regina; one brother, Bobby; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Anna; husbands:William Johnston, Gilbert Winje, and Melvin Rhey; sisters:Naomi and Ann; and a brother, Andrew.Blessed Be The Memory Of Mattie Rhey
