Lynne Fitzpatrick

Lynne Fitzpatrick, age 70, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at her home near Pelican Rapids.Lynne Carol Ekholm was born October 4, 1939, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Gunnard and Margaret (Whittemore) Ekholm.She graduated from South High School in 1957.She attended the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry, for Dental Assisting from 1958-1959.On June 17, 1961, she was united in marriage to Terry Fitzpatrick at Bethel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis by Reverend Gerstad, who in the future, would also be their pastor when they moved to Pelican Rapids and joined Trinity Lutheran Church. Terry and Lynne built a summer cabin on South Lake Lida in 1967, spending time in both Minneapolis and Pelican Rapids until 1970, when they purchased a resort in Pelican Rapids.In 1982, Lynne graduated from Nursing School in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.She worked for several hospitals and nursing homes over the years.For 18 years, she and her husband owned and operated Oak Lodge Resort on North Lake Lida until 1988. Lynne enjoyed fishing, camping, wood carving, gardening, weekly lunches with her friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.She volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Red Cross, and Pass It On Ministry.Lynne took pleasure in singing with the Sweet Adelines while living in Minneapolis.She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, various nursing organizations and womens civic clubs.Lynne is survived by her husband, Terry Fitzpatrick, Pelican Rapids, MN; son, Darrin Fitzpatrick, Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter, Kathy (Glen) Lewis, Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren:Nina Lewis, Reed Lewis, Katie Hering, and Terry Hering; brother, Dave (Sandy) Ekholm, Bloomington, MN; sister-in-law, Patty (Wally) Pearson, Fergus Falls, MN; and nieces and nephews:Steven (Melanie) Ekholm, Daniel (Phetsamone) Ekholm, Kristi (Kenn) Edman, Keith (Michelle) Pearson, and Kevin (Laura) Pearson.She was preceded in death by her son, Michael; and parents, Gunnard and Margaret.Blessed Be The Memory Of Lynne Fitzpatrick
