Lorren Larry Levorsen, age 82, a resident of Ferndale, Washington, formerly of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Virginia Mason Hospital, Seattle, Washington.Lorren Kenneth Levorsen was born November 6, 1927, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Albert J. and Barbara (Flatlein) Levorsen.Lorren (Larry) grew up in Pelican Rapids and graduated from high school in 1946.That fall he joined the United States Army and had overseas duty in the Occupation Forces in Southern Germany. After his discharge he attended North Dakota State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Tau Beta Scholar-a national honorary society for engineers). His employment the next 16 years was with Bechtel Corporation where he traveled far and wide. One of the job sites was in Ferndale, WA, a beautiful place that offered fishing, boating, mountains for horseback riding- all the things he loved to do in his time off. So he departed from Bechtel and settled in Lynden , WA, and later started Anvil Corporation. In August 1976 he married Thelma (Sal) Johnson at the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Larry has written a book about his childhood through the Bechtel years with many related pictures. After his retirement from Anvil in 1998, Larry greatly enjoyed working on the family farm.Larry is survived by his wife, Sal, Ferndale, WA; two sons: David Johnson of Riverside, CA, and Keith (Christine) Johnson of Ferndale; six grandchildren: Wesley and Mark of Riverside CA, and Mike of TN, Eric and wife Kristi, Matthew and Stephanie of Ferndale, WA; and a sister, Barbara Quinn of Radcliff, Kentucky.He was preceded in death by his parents.Memorials may be made to your favorite charity, the Pelican Rapids Public Library, or the Lighthouse Mission For The Ferndale Food Bank.Blessed Be The Memory of Lorren "Larry" Levorsen
