Lois Buerkley

Lois Buerkley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, age 75, died on August 18, 2010, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, after a long battle with Alzheimers.Lois Adelaide Fischer was born to Edward and Lois (Duke) Fischer on November 21, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland.At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Kulm, North Dakota, where she was raised and met her future husband Floyd Buerkley.Floyd and Lois were married on September 1, 1954.They lived on the Buerkley family farm outside of Kulm, until moving to Fargo the fall of 1955.She was a homemaker raising their three children until retiring to their family home on Prairie Lake, Minnesota, in the spring of 1991.Lois will always be remembered for her smile, quick wit, and the love and devotion she had for her family.She enjoyed music, dancing, ceramics, gardening and spending time with her family.She will be sadly missed, but will stay in our hearts forever.She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Floyd; three children: Mitchell (Shelly) Buerkley, Fargo, ND, Michael (Ann) Buerkley, Fargo, ND, and Amy (Derek) Schuck, Bloomington, MN; grandchildren: Ashley, Joshua, Aaron (Ashley), Denyse, Jessica, Lucas, Grace, and Garrett; three brothers: John (Pat) Fischer, Phoenix, AZ, Bob (Ilah) Fischer, Fargo, ND, and Bill (Pearl) Fischer, Baltimore, MD; a sister; Mary Pietz, Aberdeen, SD; four brother-in-laws: Palmer (Ella), Herbert (Alice), Melvin Walker, and Fred (Sophie); four sister-in-laws: Vivian Haeffner, Marilyn (Howard) Weiler, Ruth Buerkley, and Wilma Fischer.Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lois; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Christine Buerkley;her brother, Edward; four brother-in-laws:Robert Buerkley, Edwin Heidinger, Howard Haeffner and Bill Pietz; sister-in-law, Lucille Walker; one child in infancy, Fredrick Wayne; and one stillborn daughter, Mary Katherine.The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at the Pelican Rapids Good Samaritan for all the love and support they provided.Blessed Be The Memory Of Lois Buerkley
