Arleen Wahlstrom, age 78, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Monday, September 27, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society in Pelican Rapids.Arleen Delores Bakken was born June 12, 1932, in Scambler Township near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Thorwald and Gusta (Teigen) Bakken.She was baptized and confirmed at Grove Lake Lutheran Church in rural Pelican Rapids.Arleen graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1950.After graduation she worked at the Milkbar Caf as a waitress.On October 29, 1950, Arleen was united in marriage to Wallace Wahlstrom in Pelican Rapids.Shortly after they were married they moved to Virginia for a couple of years.After Wallaces military duty they moved to Pelican Rapids for a while, then they moved to Waukon, IA. Next, they moved to the Twin Cities and then in 1980 Arleen moved back to Pelican Rapids.Arleen was a cook for the Good Samaritan Society in Pelican Rapids for 18 years until her retirement.In March of 2010, Arleen entered the Good Samaritan Society. Arleen liked to read, especially the Bible.She enjoyed embroidery, watching soap operas, listening to music, and baking.She took pleasure in spending time with family and friends.She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.Arleen is survived by her son, Steven (Jeanne) Wahlstrom, Ham Lake, MN; daughter, Connie Wahlstrom, Pelican Rapids, MN; grandchildren: Jefferey, Jeremiah, Ryan, and Anna; brother, Ferdinand Bakken, Pelican Rapids, MN; sisters, Olivia Church, Seattle, WA, and Loretta (Jerry) Harr, San Jose, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thorwald and Gusta; Wallace; son, Daniel; granddaughters, Kelda and Jennifer; brothers, Garfield and Gerald; sisters, Eunice Kirkham, Evelyn Fisher, Ellen Olson, Ardis Albright, and Myrna Steeves; and special friend, Harry Sahlberg.Blessed Be The Memory Of Arleen Wahlstrom
