Julie Poach, age 47, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, lost her brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Sanford Health, in Fargo, North Dakota.Julie Dale Pierce was born June 6, 1963, in Mayville, North Dakota, the daughter of Dale and Janet (Detrick) Pierce. She was baptized in Hatton, North Dakota, and confirmed in Pelican Rapids at Faith Lutheran Church. Julie graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1981. Upon graduation she attended Anoka Technical College and North Dakota State College of Science graduating in dental hygiene. Over the years, Julie worked as a hygienist for several dentists in the area. On July 13, 1985, she was united in marriage to Troy Poach at Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Julie and Troy built their business, Up North Distributing, and owned and operated it until selling it in February 2010. Julie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She loved listening to her sons play their musical instruments. Julie liked spending summers on Lake Lida. She took pleasure in chef-ing with her secret recipes for her family and friends. Her home and camper were always open to those special to her. Julie enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, car rides in classic cars, camping, and hiking in the mountains. Their second home was in Cozumel, Mexico; there they made friends who became their second family.Julie had a magnetic personality and made a profound impact on all the lives she touched.Julie is survived by her husband, Troy Poach, Pelican Rapids, MN; sons: Tanner Poach, Grand Forks, ND, and Taylor Poach, Groton, CT; parents, Dale and Janet Pierce, Pelican Rapids, MN; grandmother, Elsie Pierce, Pelican Rapids, MN; father-in-law, Clifford Poach, Barnesville, MN; mother-in-law, Donna Poach, Pelican Rapids, MN; brothers: Maynard (Kristi) Pierce, Vergas, MN, and Tim (Becca) Pierce, Pelican Rapids, MN; sisters: Dawn (Robert) Westby, Erhard, MN, and Laura (Wes) Hagen, Pelican Rapids, MN; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Paige Marie.
