LeRoy Strehlow

LeRoy Strehlow, age 71, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at his home.LeRoy Herman Strehlow was born January 8, 1940, in Perham, Minnesota, the son of LeRoy A. and Gladys M. (Kratzke) Strehlow. LeRoy graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Marines for 3 years. After returning from the military, LeRoy started working for Northern States Power. On November 9, 1968, LeRoy was united in marriage to Kathleen Hjulberg in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He continued working for Northern States Power (which eventually became Xcel Energy) for 34 years, retiring as a Relay Technician on December 29, 1995. They moved to the Pelican Rapids area in 2000.LeRoy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake in Pelican Rapids and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He enjoyed woodworking and building WWII model airplanes. LeRoy loved the outdoors, especially: hunting, fishing, gardening, and feeding the critters.LeRoy is survived by his wife, Kathleen Strehlow, Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Nordstrom, Phoenix, AZ; son, Mark (Christine) Strehlow, St. Michael, MN; 5 grandchildren: Bennet, Grace, and Emmy Nordstrom, and Jessica and Elizabeth Strehlow; brothers: Allan (Carol) Strehlow, Blaine, MN, and Terry (Lena) Strehlow, Dent, MN; sister, Elaine (Glen) Morrow, Delano, MN; brother-in-law, Burnett (Ramona) Hjulberg, Corcoran, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Gladys.
