DuWayne Stoen, age 66, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Friday, March 4, 2011, at his home in Pelican Rapids.DuWayne Morris Stoen was born March 9, 1944, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Morris and Sara (McCurdy) Stoen. He was baptized and confirmed at North Immanuel Church in rural Pelican Rapids. DuWayne graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1963. From 1963-1967, during the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Enterprise for three tours. On May 17, 1969, DuWayne was united in marriage to Carolyn Holland in Akeley, Minnesota. DuWayne worked for Lake Region Electric in Pelican Rapids and the City of Fargo. For 10 years, he owned and operated West Lincoln 66 in Fergus Falls and also farmed. In 1980, they moved to the family farm near Pelican Rapids. While farming, he also worked seasonally for the Pelican Rapids Elevator and for 15 years he delivered the Midweek and Lakes Area Press. DuWayne was a life-time member of North Immanuel Church and was a member of V.F.W. Post #5252. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.DuWayne is survived by his wife, Carolyn Stoen, Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter, Nancy Kay (David) Rooks, Rogers, MN; mother, Sara Stoen, Pelican Rapids, MN; grandchildren: Tyler, Emma, and Molly Rooks; double cousins: Dennis (Carolyn) Stoen, Fergus Falls, MN, and Charlotte (Frank) Moline, Mercer Island, WA.
