Constance Day

Constance "Connie" Day, age 64, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Friday, May 27, 2011, at her residence in Pelican Rapids under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Constance Marie Grahn was born August 17, 1946, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Albin and Clarice (Togstad) Grahn. Connie was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1964. Connie worked as a telephone operator in Fargo, North Dakota, for a couple years. She worked for the Social Security Administration in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was later promoted to claims representative serving in St. Paul, Minnesota, retiring in 2004 with 36 years of service. On June 30, 1989, she was united in marriage to Jim Day at Shepherd of the Valley Church in Lakeland, Minnesota. They resided in Stillwater, Minnesota, for 20 years. Connie and Jim moved to Pelican Rapids in 2009, living in a pole-barn on their land until their new home was finished in January 2010.Connie enjoyed sewing, reading, yard work, traveling, flowers, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Connie loved being around people and she took pleasure in outdoor activities.Connie is survived by her husband, Jim Day, Pelican Rapids, MN; children: Nancy (Dion) Fleigle, Pelican Rapids, MN, James J. (Beth) Day, Somerset, WI, and Richard Day, Stillwater, MN; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Conroy, Stillwater, MN; 10 grandchildren: Darlene Rider, Dillon Rider, Hunter Flynn, Matt Fleigle, Kris Fleigle, Joey Day, Emma Day, Deegen Day, Jocelyn Flynn, and Alayna Schell; brothers: Arvid (Joan) Grahn, Salina KS, Aldin (Ruth) Grahn, Glenville, MN, Ken (Lynn) Grahn, Oakland, MN; and Clarence (Lorijayne) Grahn, Pelican Rapids, MN; sister, Cheryl (Gale) Pfeiffer, Vergas, MN; many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Clarice; son, Derek Flynn; and brother, Virgil.
