Janess Perniel Evenson

Janess Perneil Evenson, age 87, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Friday, October 28, 2011, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Janess was born January 31, 1924, in Dunn Township near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry Herting and Lilly (Tidemand) Herting. On July 10, 1938 Janess was confirmed at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, MN and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School Class of 1943. She worked at Myhre's Confectionery and Restaurant, Pelican Rapids. On August 31, 1945, Janess was united in marriage to Roy Evenson at North Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived in Spokane, Washington and then Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they resided for 47 years where Janess worked as a cashier at Penny's Super Market. After retiring, they moved back to Pelican Rapids. Roy died June 4, 2009. A year ago Janess entered Pelican Valley Nursing Home.Janess was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids and active in her church circle. She enjoyed baking, cooking, crafts, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and embroidering kitchen towels. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards with family and friends.Janess is survived by her children: Cynthia (Wayne) Josephson, Pueblo West, CO, Roger (Kay) Evenson, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Pamela (Tom) Bobst, Rocky River, OH; eleven grandchildren: Jarrett (Racquel) Leadens, Katrina (Kevin) Kolasa, Jamie (Jason) Bischoff, Renee (Thomas) White, Samantha Evenson, Sarah Josephson, Rachel (Tom) Knost, John Josephson, Matthew Bobst, Christine Bobst, Caroline Bobst; seven great-grandchildren: Wyatt Leadens, Morgan Leadens, Rhett Leadens, Kole Kolasa, Kodi Kolasa, Weston White, and Logan Bischoff; three brothers-in-law: Erwin Olson, Minneapolis, MN, Ernest Evenson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Garnet (Delores) Evenson, Lake Park, MN, Arvid Evenson, Pelican Rapids, MN; two sisters-in-law: Mildred Honrud, Moorhead, MN, Hazel Hutchinson, San Gabriel, CA. and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband: Roy; parents: Henry and Lilly Herting; sisters: Delores Olson, Louella Mokler and Ardys Nelson; and her brother: Milferd Herting.Memorials preferred to Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or Pelican Valley Nursing Home.Honorary Pallbearers: Jarrett Leadens, Renee White Active Pallbearers: Christine Bobst, Matthew Bobst, Jamie Evenson, Samantha Evenson, John Josephson, Sarah JosephsonReaders: Caroline Bobst, Rachel Knost, Katrina KolasaFuneral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
