Jerome August Albrecht

Jerome A. Albrecht, age 83, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Sanford Health Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Jerome was born March 22, 1928, at Dawson, Minnesota, the son of Herman and Anna (Vondra) Albrecht. He was raised on a farm near St. Leo, Minnesota, until the age of fifteen when he moved with his family to Madison, Minnesota. Jerome graduated high school from the West Central Agricultural School in Moorhead, Minnesota. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and upon his discharge retuned to Minnesota. On August 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Arlene Ruether at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Madison. They established their home on a farm near Graceville, Minnesota, where they farmed for twenty years. Jerome and Arlene then moved to Pelican Rapids where he was a well known real estate broker for thirty years. He was an active member of St. Leonard's Catholic Church. Jerome was an airplane pilot, motorcycle enthusiast and an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Over the years he and Arlene enjoyed traveling to many different places. Family was very important to him, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene; children, Jolene (Rod) Mendelsohn of Santa Cruz, CA, Jay Albrecht of Peshtigo, WI, Joan (David) Stene of Dayton, MN, Jeff Albrecht of Denton, TX, Jerianne Albrecht of Ulen, MN and Jon Albrecht of Casselton, ND; grandchildren, Stephen Albrecht, Sarah Albrecht, James Albrecht, Stephanie Stene, Erica Stene, Matthew Albrecht, Nathan Mendelsohn and Rachael Stene; great-grandchildren, Xavier Albrecht and Genesis Albrecht; sisters, Alice (Fred) Wall, Wayzata, MN, and Helen (Richard) Strohfus of Watertown, SD.He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Albrecht and infant son, John Albrecht; granddaughter, infant Josephine Stene; brothers, LeRoy and Herman and sister Doris. Visitation: will be Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Larson Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service. Visitation resumes one hour prior to services in the church.
