Peggy Nelson

Martha Elaine "Peggy" Nelson, age 82, formerly of Vergas, Minnesota, died, Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Martha was born May 23, 1929 at Watertown, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Martha (Tubbs) West. On May 16, l947 she was united in marriage to Carlton Dale Nelson in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Martha and Carlton resided in rural Vergas, Minnesota, where they owned and operated a mink ranch. Later she was employed at Paul's Insulation, Vergas, MN, West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids and Crystal Lida Resort, Pelican Rapids, MN. Carlton died February 18, 1983. Peggy was always giving of her time and talents. She loved leading Bible study for her Circle group at Trinity, playing card games, and having her grandchildren invade her home every summer for swimming lessons.She enjoyed doing ceramics, crocheting, and putting together any craft project she could find.Peggy was always busy but never too busy to drop everything for someone she loved.Martha is survived by daughter: Corinne (Bruce) Beug, Detroit Lakes, MN; sons: Dean (Linda) Nelson, Vergas, MN, and Dennis (Isa) Nelson, Pembroke Pines, FL; sisters: Florence "Doll" Warren and Virginia "Jean" Michaelson, Sauk Rapids, MN; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband: Carlton Nelson; son: Aaron Nelson; brothers: William West and Darrell West.Visitation: Will be Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Larson Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MinnesotaFuneral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
