Allen "Grumpy" Waasdorp, Sr., age 78, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Allen Lloyd Waasdorp was born February 1, 1934 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Grace (Lee) Waasdorp. He was baptized at the home farm, Foxhome, Minnesota. Later the family moved to the farm on Sand Lake. Allen attended Sand Lake School District #217 and High School in Pelican Rapids. On February 14, 1955 Allen was united in marriage to Dorothy Kjono in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was employed as a truck driver for Evenson's Trucking in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Later he purchased his own trucks and hauled turkeys to West Central Turkeys, Inc. in Pelican Rapids. When Allen retired from trucking they moved out to the home farm on Sand Lake.Allen loved to deer hunt, fish and his fishing and moose hunting trips to Canada. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them the art of hunting and fishing.He is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons: Allen Jr. (Sue) Waasdorp, Fergus Falls, MN and Gary Waasdorp, Pelican Rapids, MN; two grandchildren: Jason Waasdorp and Jessica (Nick) Fosberg, Fergus Falls, MN; three great-grandchildren: Austin, Kaylee and Riley; one sister: Mae (Clarence) Austin, Ottertail, MN; two sisters-in-law: Laura Waasdorp and Ruby (Bob) Woodland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Andrea Leigh Waasdorp; brothers: John and Robert; sisters: Delores and Emma; sister-in-law Pauline; brothers-in-law: Douglas Whipps and Burt Sharp.
