Helen Leaf, age 88, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, April 3, 2012 on Franklin Lake, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Helen L. Leaf was born March 27, 1924 in Denhoff, North Dakota, the daughter of Simon and Emma (Richter) Labrenz. She graduated from Denhoff High School. On December 12, 1941 Helen was united in marriage to Laurel (Twig) Leaf in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. After her husband's military discharge in 1943 they moved to Vergas, Minnesota, where they owned an auto garage. In 1946 they returned to Pelican Rapids and established Leaf Auto Body. Helen worked several years as a dental assistant for Dr. Riemark. She also worked for Lodin's Variety Store, Strand's Coast to Coast, eventually retiring from Ace Hardware in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Helen is survived by her son Jerry (Fely) Leaf, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; granddaughter, Krista, Detroit Lakes; Helen's friend, Dwayne Swanton, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota..She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother Raymond; sister Frieda Sherva.Memorials preferred to the Pelican Rapids Public Library and St. Leonard Catholic Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Visitation: Tuesday, April 10, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at St. Leonard Catholic Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Clergy: Father Stan WieserBurial: Pelican Valley Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MinnesotaFuneral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
