Leo O. Aaser, 85 of Pelican Rapids, MN passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Sanford's Palliative Care Center.Leo O. Aaser, son of Louis and Emma Aaser, was born in McVille, ND on October 31, 1926. He grew up on a farm near McVille and attended school in McVille. He joined the United States Army at age 17 and served in World War II. After returning from the service he married Shirley Bakke on June 12, 1949 in Michigan, North Dakota. Leo worked for the REA, and then they moved to Moorhead, MN where they raised their children and he worked at Armor's Meat Company in West Fargo, ND until they closed. He then drove truck for Union Storage until he retired in May of 1989. Leo was very involved in Archery for many years. He hand crafted bows and arrows and competed in tournaments. Leo and Shirley moved to their retirement home they built on Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids. Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Over the years he built many beautiful bird houses, bird feeders and wooden baskets. He loved playing Pinochle in the evenings with their friends. Leo is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Cheryl (Merle) Earley, Detroit Lakes, MN, son Rodney (Melanie) Aaser, West Fargo, ND. Five Grandchildren, Shawn Earley, Shannan (fiancee Rachel Wohlwend) Earley, Carmen (Jason) Sivers, Lisa Aaser-Boeder, Matthew Aaser (girlfriend, Sheena Williams) and Six Great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, a niece and a nephew. Visitation: Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
