LuVerne Donalee Peterson

LuVerne Peterson, age 82, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on October 1, 2012, at Essentia Health, Fargo, North Dakota. LuVerne (Luvy) Donalee Menge was born on September 12, 1930 in McVille, North Dakota, the daughter of Arnold and Agnes (Loe) Menge. She grew up in McVille surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She graduated from McVille High School in 1948 and attended Moorhead State Teachers College, Moorhead, MN. At that time she met Robert Peterson. They were married on October 6, l950 in Moorhead, MN. Bob was called into service shortly after their marriage and Luvy proceeded to teach elementary school in southern Minnesota for two years. When Bob returned from service they made their home in the rural Moorhead area. For many years Bob continued to be part of the family business known as The Peterson Truck Farm. During this time, four children were born: Cathy, Caryn, David and Diane. They later moved to Glendora, CA where they lived for over 20 years. Luvy and Bob have spent their retirement years in Pelican Rapids, MN.Luvy was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church as well as a volunteer in community activities.She cherished her family, her friends and her church.She passed away suddenly from a car accident on October 1, of this year. Luvy is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, daughters: Cathy (Darrow) and Diane ( Ahmed), Carpinteria, CA; her son, David ( Alice) Peterson, Taft, CA; three grandsons, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn (Paul) Raadt; one sister-in-law, Janice Menge; Aunt, Cecil Loe; Several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob's parents, one brother and her daughter, Caryn.Visitation: One hour prior to the serviceService: Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MNClergy: Pastor Laurie Skow-AndersonFuneral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
