Fred Splittgerber, age 73, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls, MN. He was surrounded by his family. Fred Henry Splittgerber was born December 31, 1938 in Fergus Falls, MN hospital, the son of Henry and Thelma (Leeper) Splittgerber of rural Erhard, MN. He worked several years for Ouren Brother's Construction and All Builder's Construction of Fergus Falls. He was a self-employed carpenter until his retirement. Fred was united in marriage to Darlene Joyce Melkert on November 28, 1959 at Tonseth Lutheran Church, near Erhard, MN. He was a member of Pelican Rapids Baptist Church. His hobbies were fishing, woodworking, being outdoors, yard work and gardening, planting trees and flowers, and being with his grandchildren.Fred is survived by his wife, Darlene, Pelican Rapids, MN; son, Steve (Ailene) Splittgerber of River Falls, WI, daughter, Lori (Dale) Johnson of Pelican Rapids, MN, and son, Larry (Tammy) Splittgerber of Belle Plaine, MN; grandchildren: Tyler (Stephanie) Splittgerber, River Falls, WI, Chrissy Splittgerber, St. Louis Park, MN, Cody Splittgerber, River Falls, WI, Michelle Johnson and Marissa Johnson of Pelican Rapids, MN, Sean Splittgerber and Veronica Splittgerber of Belle Plaine, MN; great-grandchild, Chloe Mae Splittgerber; brother, Dennis (Carol) Splittgerber of Erhard, MN, and sisters, Vonnie (Mark) Kenyon of Vergas, MN and Alice Stenstrom of Fergus Falls, MN; brother-in-law, Earl (Barb) Melkert; and many nieces and nephews.Fred was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Pelican Rapids Baptist Church, Pelican Rapids, MNClergy: Pastor Louie Sutter Burial: Lake Lida Baptist Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN Funeral Home: Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MinnesotaOnline Guestbook: www.larsonfuneralpelicanrapids.comPianist: Carol SplittgerberDuet: Tyler and Stephanie Splittgerber Pallbearers: Fred's Grandchildren
