Richard Sonmor, age 74, a resident of Erhard, Minnesota, died on Monday, March 11, 2013, at his residence. Richard Arvid Sonmor was born November 4, 1938, in Dalton, the son of Ernest and Dorothy (Schroeder) Sonmor. Serving in the Army from 1957 to 1969, Richard graduated from U.S. Army Ranger School and served in the Vietnam War working with Hawk Missile Systems. Richard was united in marriage to Patricia Christiansen on June 12, 1965 in El Paso, Texas. After his military service he received his G.E.D. and then attended schooling for Industrial Mechanics at Southwest Oregon Community College in Coos Bay. During schooling Richard worked as a logger and a handyman. From 1977 to 1987, he worked in construction, building pole barns, and farming in the Nashua and Ashby area. In 1987 Richard and Patti moved to Erhard where they farmed and raised beef cattle. He enjoyed farming and restoring tractors.Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia "Patti", Erhard, MN; sons: Michael Sonmor, Erhard, and Charles (Jennifer) Sonmor, Erhard; brother, Robert (Verna) Sonmor, Pine City, MN, and Thomas Adamson, Greenville, TX; sister, Linda (Bob) Studt, Lake Ozark, MO; brother-in-law, James (Joan) Christiansen, Michigan, sister-in-law, Mary Jo (Kurt) Pickering, Defiance, OH; aunt, Ella Sonmor, Dalton, MN; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Roger; sister, Dawn O'Neil; aunts: Sally and Ollie.
