Frank Kimm, 75, of Pelican Rapids, MN passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Frank Arthur Kimm was born on May 1, 1938 in Wolverton, MN to Benjamin Franklin and Magna Christine (Westerlund) Kimm. He was baptized and confirmed at the Wolverton Lutheran Church in Wolverton. He also attended school in Wolverton and was a member of the last graduating class there in 1957. At the age of 16 years, Frank started his love of farming and cattle. He rented a barn and milked his own 5 cows by hand. He continued farming in Wolverton for a few years until moving to Pelican Rapids in 1963. He also served in the North Dakota Air National Guard, enlisting after his junior year in high school. Frank was united in marriage to Dianne Larson on August 30, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. To this union three children were born: Brian, Ann, and Rob. Frank was able to begin farming with his dad near Rollag, MN and continued his passion for the land and cattle. As the years went by Frank was able to farm with his son Brian, sharing in the tradition of farming, as he had done with his own father. They raised and milked dairy cattle along with grains. Frank married Loureigne Cycile Peterson on August 12, 1998 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN. Frank continued his life on the farm with Loureigne by his side in the fields and in the barn. Frank was active and supported many organizations throughout his lifetime. He served on the Clay County Fair Board for many years and is being honored this summer at the 100th anniversary of the Clay County Fair for his volunteerism. He was also active with the Clay County Blandin Alumni and volunteered numerous hours at the Fargo Dome to earn money for charities in Clay County. He served on the board of the Tri State Milk Producers, Big 5 Co-op Assn., Detroit Lakes, Clay County Township Officials, Clay County Planning and Zoning Commission, Tansem Township Board, and was active on the Grove Lake Lutheran Church Council and served as custodian at Grove Lake Lutheran Church for many years. He was also active on the cemetery board and took pride in caring for the grounds of the cemetery. He was currently a member of Rollag Lutheran Church. Frank and Loureigne have been members of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park Association and volunteered for a couple of weeks in the spring and the fall in Medora, ND for about 10 years. Frank is survived by his wife Loureigne, Pelican Rapids, MN, three children: son Brian (Barb) Kimm of Pelican Rapids, MN, and their children Jason, Benjamin (fianc Ashley Hansen) Daniel Kimm; daughter Ann (Pat) Anderson of Fargo, ND and their children Michael (Kathryn) Anderson, Meghan Anderson; and son Rob (Sara) Kimm of St. Paul, MN and their children Morgan Kimm, Marcy Dammann, Ethan Kimm; Loureigne's children Chad (Kari) Peterson, of Glyndon, MN, and their children Cole Sogge, Cade Sogge, Chase Peterson, Katie Peterson; Rod (Amanda) Peterson, of Costa Mesa, CA; two sisters: Mary (Charles) Olsgaard, Moorhead, MN, Karol (Charles) Carlson, Detroit Lakes, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Sunday, May 12, 2013, 4 to 6 p.m. at Rollag Lutheran Church, with a 6:00 PM Prayer Service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Monday, May 13, 2013, at Rollag Lutheran Church, Rollag, MN with Rev. Jim Greene officiating. Burial will be at a later time in the Rollag Lutheran Cemetery.
