Carlyn Ann Stadum

Carlyn Stadum, age 79, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, MN. Carlyn Ann Gullingsrud was born October 9, 1933 in Thief River Falls, MN to John and Maymie Isabella (Anderson) Gullingsrud. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. She attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Donald LeRoy Stadum on May 7, 1952 at Cheyenne, Wyoming while Don was serving in the Air Force. While Don was stationed overseas, Carlyn lived with Don's sister in California. After that they moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota from 1960-1965. They then moved to Benson where they resided until 1971; then to Paynesville, MN from 1971-1974 after that they settled in Pelican Rapids, MN. Carlyn worked at the Elementary School in Pelican Rapids for a few years and then worked as a nurse's aid. She went back to college and received her LPN license in 1983. She worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids for quite a few years. Her husband died in 1986. After that she lived in several places including Alexandria, Paynesville, and Fergus Falls, before returning to Pelican Rapids eight years ago. Carlyn enjoyed her coffee company. She liked to visit with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She also enjoyed the ladies from Bethel Church in Fergus Falls. Card playing with Pete and Helen and John and Harriet was always a fun time for Carlyn. She is survived by five children: Paula (Keith) Lang of Paynesville, MN, Jeff (Lynn) Stadum of Pelican Rapids, MN, Linda (Duane) Ishaug of Pelican Rapids, MN, Karin (Mark) Roach of Brainerd, MN, Craig Stadum of Audubon, MN, 10 grandchildren: Shawn (Kelly) Lang, Ryan (Melissa) Lang, Aaron (fiance Maria) Lang, Kristin (Matt) Kerzman, Brittany Stadum, Jason Stadum, Erin Stadum, Katie Stadum, Alisha (fianc Ryan Schroeder) Roach, Andrew (Brianna Beach) Roach, 5 great grandchildren Hannah, Abigail, Faith, Grace, Dezmond, one sister Helen Barstad of Bismarck, ND, brother Don (Emy) Gullingsrud, FL, one sister-in-law Harriet Gullingsrud of Bismarck, ND, half-brother Jim Gullingsrud, and many nieces and nephews. Carlyn is preceded in death by her husband Don in 1986, parents, infant daughter Laura Stadum, three siblings: Marilyn, John, and Thomas.
