The adoptive family worked a North Dakota farm and later moved to the Pelican Rapids area. Her mother lived in Pelican Rapids as a teenager. She was assigned to The Tank Training Center in Vilseck, Germany where she met her future husband, 2nd Lt. Thomas Quinn. They were married on May 6, 1950. They were joined in matrimony for over 63 years until separated by Barbara's passing on October 23, 2013.Barbara enjoyed traveling (especially to historical sites), photography (especially taking pictures of her family during their many travels), and the art of sewing, quilting, and other needle work. She made many of her own clothes and those of her daughter. She used the computer to do extensive genealogical work and to stay in touch with family and friends. She lived overseas for 9.5 years: 3 years in Germany, with most of this time in Berlin starting just a few years after WWII, 2.5 years in Japan where her daughter was born, 2 years in France, 1 year in the Netherlands, and 1 year in England. She was a wonderful wife, mother to two children, grandmother to two grandchildren, and a good friend to many.
