Robert "Bob" Nessa

Robert "Bob" Wayne Nessa, 68, of Pelican Rapids, MN passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 in Chicago while en route to visit his brother, Jim, in Ohio.Robert Wayne Nessa was born June 2, 1945 to William and Marie (Paulson) Nessa in Pelican Rapids. After Robert graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1963, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. From 1967 to 1975 Robert was a patrol officer with the Fergus Falls Police Department. Prior to his retirement he worked as a Security Guard for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Fargo for many years.He also volunteered as a Big Brother in Fergus Falls. In his Mother's later years, Robert enjoyed taking her out for coffee and pie, for lunch at the Cornfield Caf, on shopping trips, appointments and rides around the beautiful Pelican Rapids area countryside. Robert was a gentle soul; a big man with a big heart who was always willing to help others.He is survived by his brothers: Jim (Kathy) Nessa, Ashtabula, OH and Kenneth Nessa, Bloomington, MN; nieces: Anne Nessa, Ashtabula, OH and Laura Nessa, Fargo ND; aunt and uncle, Margaret and Sammy Braton, Pelican Rapids, MN; numerous cousins, many friends in the Pelican Rapids area and, of course, the special gang that he hung out with at the pool hall.He is preceded by his parents and several aunts and uncles.A special thanks to Chet Nettestad for his help to the family during this difficult time.Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the churchService: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MNClergy: Pastor Laurie SkowAndersonBurial: Pelican Valley Cemetery Pelican Rapids, Minnesota Funeral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
