Roger Tingelstad, age 67, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died, Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Pelican Valley Health Center under the care of Lakeland Hospice in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Roger Lee was born July 21, 1946 in Detroit Lakes, the son of Milan and Leona (Priem) Tingelstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. After graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1964, Roger attended Fergus Falls Community College and later graduated from Wahpeton School of Science with a degree in accounting. Then he worked at Walt Boe's grocery store and Egge construction, both located in Pelican Rapids. From 1966 to 1972, Roger served in the United States Army Reserves.On April 24, 1976, Roger was united in marriage to Sandra Johnson at Grove Lake Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids. Roger with his brother, Myron, took over their father's construction business, Tingelstad Construction, in which Roger operated for over 40 years. In 1986 Roger and Myron's brother, Harlan, joined Tingelstad Construction until 2001. For several years Roger and Pete Lund also owned and operated a video arcade game vending business. From 1984 to 1987, Roger with his wife, Sandra, and friends, Gary and Kathy Hovland, owned and operated the Pelican Home bakery. Roger with his partner, Mitch Okerstrom, owned and operated Torrential Power Pump from 1992 to 2000. Myron died on May 18, 2002 but Roger continued to operate the business until the spring of 2013 when he retired due to health reasons. Roger was a member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church and the Pelican Rapids Fire Department.He enjoyed fishing, cutting and splitting wood, gardening, and raising raspberries.He is survived by his wife, Sandra Tingelstad, Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter, Tina Anderson, Janesville, MN; two grandchildren: Brittany and Payton; brothers: Gary (JoAnn) Tingelstad, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Harlan (Betty) Tingelstad, Pelican Rapids, MN; one sister, Cheryl (Don) Buchmann, Rothsay, MN; mother-in-law, Helen Johnson, Pelican Rapids; sister-in-law, Susie Johnson and her son, Gabriel of Pelican Rapids; aunts: Eleanor Tingelstad, Dora (Myron) Weber, Virginia Earley; uncle, Loyal (Shirley) Tingelstad; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousinsRoger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Myron.Memorials preferred to Lakeland Hospice or Grove Lake Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.Visitation: Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, near Pelican Rapids, MNClergy: Pastor Jeff McCrackenBurial: Grove Lake Cemetery near Pelican RapidsFuneral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
