Eldon Harold Reich was born on February 22, 1950 to Harold August and Arlene (Berglund) Reich in Benson, MN. He grew up in Minnesota and graduated high school in Cyrus, MN in 1968. Following graduation he entered the US Navy, serving his country for four years. He was a cook during his service. Returning home in 1972, Eldon began a life of truck driving, similar to his own dad. He met and married Pat Kill and unto this union one son Jason was born. They made their home in Morris for a few years. In 1982, Eldon moved to Pelican Rapids, MN. For many years he hauled milk for Duane Farnham Trucking (AMPI) between Bagley, Dawson, and Fergus Falls. Jason remembers spending time with his dad in the truck known as "Old White." Through the years, Eldon worked for several trucking companies including, Royal Logistics, Gen Mar, STS Trucking, and most currently for Minot Builders for the last couple of years. In Eldon's spare time, he was an avid fisherman; summer or winter, it didn't matter to Eldon. His favorite fishing spots were on Lida and Lizzie. He also enjoyed woodworking, building bird houses, and walking sticks. He also liked fishing Olaf and Franklin. He spent many seasons' deer hunting, pheasant hunting, and black powder hunting. Bird watching and feeding off of his deck brought lots of joy and comfort for Eldon. He and his son Jason planted over 500 pine trees at Eldon's place last year. Eldon was also an avid cook and baker. When he had the opportunity, he would go see his granddaughters at their basketball and baseball games and dance recitals. This past summer he was most proud of his garden and was featured in the Pelican Press for a 20 pound watermelon he had grown. Eldon Reich, 64, of Pelican Rapids, MN died on March 19, 2014 at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX from injuries sustained in an accident on February 25, 2014 while unloading a semi flatbed near LaPorte, TX. Eldon is survived by one son: Jason, of Moorhead, MN, two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Katie Reich of Waubun, MN, two brothers: Orin and Dean (Bonnie Misialek) of West Fargo, ND, two sisters: Vivian Molacek of Selena, TX, Lois Myers of Ulen, MN.
