Jerome "Jerry" Loren Haugen was born May 17, 1928 in Wilkin County near Breckenridge, MN the son of Martin and Alma (Aarness) Haugen. Jerry attended Robinson School in Wilkin County for six years before moving with his parents to a farm near Pelican Rapids, MN. He worked on his parent's farm until he entered the Army from October 1952 to September 1954. He served seventeen months in Korea and was in the Artillery Field. Jerry attended Interstate Business College in Fargo for two years under the G.I. Bill.Jerry was united in marriage to Martha Weber on June 23, 1957 in New Rockford, ND. He worked for West Central Turkey's for 33 years and also worked on the family farm until his retirement in April of 1990. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and after retiring he took up golfing. For 18 years Jerry and Martha especially enjoyed spending time in Arizona during the winter months. Jerry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, V.F.W.
