David Lindstrom, age 52, a resident of Moorhead, Minnesota, formerly of Pelican Rapids, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at his residence in Moorhead.David Charles Lindstrom was born April 27, 1962 in Minneapolis, the son of Robert "Bob" and Mardell (Leland) Lindstrom. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Duluth and later confirmed at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. On April 5, 1978 David sustained a severe brain injury competing in the pole vault during a high school invitational track meet at Moorhead State University. David spent nine months rehabilitating in hospitals after the accident. In 1980 David graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. After graduating he spent a year attending a special program at Moorhead State University. Then David moved to the Courage Center in Golden Valley, Minnesota where he spent sixteen months in a rehabilitative program. Following this he moved into the first community home for people with brain injuries run by Assessable Space Incorporated. He spent several years living in Minneapolis working for Rocky Rococo Pizzeria. Then David lived in and worked for programs that supported brain injury survivors in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Eagan. In February 2010 David moved to Lutheran Social Services Trinity Home in Moorhead where he was involved with a program through Heartland Industries.David was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids and Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He was presently a member of Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church in Moorhead.David enjoyed all kinds of sports, especially football and track. He was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.He is survived by his parents: Robert and Mardell Lindstrom, Pelican Rapids; sister, Deb (David) Sjostrom, Pelican Rapids; nephew, Travis Sjostrom; niece, Emma Sjostrom; aunts and uncles: Ardis Leland, Elsa Perrson, Ray Leland, Phil Leland, Walter Goltz; numerous cousins; and a special couple that were second parents to David: Sheldon and Agnes Sorensen of Minneapolis.David is preceded in death by his grandparents: Oscar and Lillian Lindstrom & Thorsten and Reidun Leland, Aunts and Uncles; Peter and Irene Tungseth, Thor Leland, Audrey Goltz, Donald Leland and Viola Jensen.Visitation: Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN.Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN.Clergy: Pastor Roger RotvoldFuneral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
