LeRoy Allen Glaesman, age 87, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at Villa Maria in Fargo, North Dakota.LeRoy Allen Glaesman was born on November 18, 1927 in Ashley, ND the son of Jacob and Hilda (Bauman) Glaesman. He graduated from Ashley High School in Ashley, North Dakota. After graduation he farmed with his father for two years. Then he attended Wahpeton School of Science receiving a degree in printing and moved to Pelican Rapids where he began to work for the Pelican Press. After a year and a half, the United States Army drafted LeRoy and he served his military duty during the Korean War. After his military duty he returned to Pelican Rapids resuming his work at the Pelican Press.On June 19, 1955 LeRoy was united in marriage to Shirly Aas at South Immanuel Parsonage in Rothsay, MN. Following their marriage, LeRoy and Shirly lived in Pelican Rapids and he continued to work for the Pelican Press for over 50 years. Many of the years he worked with a linotype printing machine. Shirly passed away in October of 2000.LeRoy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #17 where he was the treasurer for over 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, planting flowers, decorating with Christmas lights, and attending Pelican Rapids High School sports events.LeRoy is survived by his children: Mike (Mary) Glaesman, Pelican Rapids, MN, Steve (Lara) Glaesman, Minnetonka, MN, Scott (Kelly) Glaesman, Buffalo, MN, Terry Sillerud (Max Peppel), Pelican Rapids, MN, Barb (Allen) Ripley, Pelican Rapids, MN; 9 grandchildren: Brett (Laura) Ripley, Jay (Emily) Ripley, Corey Sillerud and fiance Katie, Jenni (Adam) Johnson, Will, Olivia, Reese Glaesman, Melody (Jason) Ewert, Micah Groethe; 3 great-grandchildren: Carter Johnson, Jeffrey & Moriah Ewert; sister, Delores (Ernie) Hoffman, Bandon, OR; niece Kathy Blevin and nephew Robert Hoffman.He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirly, parents, granddaughter, Bonnie Sillerud and son-in-law, Tom Sillerud.Visitation: Friday, December 19, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
