David Sumpter

David L. Sumpter, age 72, of Pelican Lake, MN, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at his home following surgery.David was born on April 8, 1942 in Fargo, ND, the loving son of Floyd and Henrietta (Hanusch) Sumpter. David grew up in West Fargo and graduated from Fargo High School. He relocated to Davis, IL, where he met his beloved wife, Patricia Helwig. They were united in marriage on April 11, 1970 to this union one daughter, Ann Marie who misses them both dearly.David worked as a Sheet Metal Worker Local Union 219, Rockford, IL. He was part of this union for over 40 years.David loved his home on Pelican Lake, his 1931 Ford Model A, and his family. He enjoyed reacquainting with his childhood buddies and making new ones, who would hang out and visit at the cabin. These friends brought him great joy and happiness.David is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie Sumpter (Stephen Graham); granddaughters: Corinne and August of Burlington, WI; brothers: Gary (Judy) Sumpter of Pelican Rapids, MN and Floyd "Sparky"(Margaret) Sumpter of Kindred, ND; sister: Judy Sumpter of Inver Grove Heights, MN; and many wonderful nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, February 5, 2002, his parents and brother, Raymond (Mary) Sumpter. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.Visitation: Monday, March 23, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
