Clinton Hanson, age 83, a resident of Middle Cormorant Lake near Lake Park, Minnesota and Eustis, Florida died on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.Clinton David Hanson was born on May 19, 1932 in Woodside Township, Polk County, Minnesota the son of Thomas and Sina (Hoff) Hanson. Clinton was born and raised on the Hanson farm, rural Erskine. He attended rural school for 4 years, Erskine school for 5 years, and graduated from Mentor High School, Mentor, MN. Clinton began working for Garden Valley Telephone Company in 1950. In 1953 he was drafted in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. After his military duty, he returned to Garden Valley Telephone Company where he worked until 1956. On July 7, 1956 he was united in marriage with Lois Ann Asselin. They moved to the Hendrum/Halstad area where he was employed by Halstad Telephone until 1978. In 1978 they moved to Pelican Rapids where he was employed as general manager of Hohman Telephone Company until 1987. Clinton and Lois went into the restaurant business owning and operating Lois' Caf & Bake shop. In 1988 Clinton went to work as the general manager of James Valley Co-op Telephone Company at Groton, South Dakota where he was employed until he retired on December 31, 1999. In May 2001, Clinton and Lois moved to Fargo, North Dakota, In 2002 made their lake place on Middle Cormorant Lake their summer home and Eustis, Florida as their winter home.Clinton enjoyed woodworking, gardening, photography, and working with model trains and airplanes, guitar, accordion, polka music, bocce ball and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.In his retirement Clinton gave freely of his time to many charitable organizations. He was a member of American Legion, Kiwanis and Lions Club.Clinton is survived by his loving wife of more than 58 years, Lois of Middle Cormorant Lake; son Scott (Jill) Hanson, Lake Park, daughter Mardi Hanson (fiance, Mike Oswald), Ramsey, and son Chris (Erika) Hanson, Fargo; 7 grandchildren: Cody Hanson, Jed Hanson, Jack Schoberg, Eva Hanson, Travis Hanson, Luke Hanson, and Marie Hanson; great-grandson Bryce Hanson; numerous nieces and nephews; and 7 foreign exchange students. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lloyd and Sydney; and sister Clarice Gravdahl.In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Feed My Starving Children and Deliver the Difference.Visitation: Friday, May 29, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m.at Cormorant Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, MN.
