Harlan Eddie Knutson

Harlan Knutson, age 87, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Harlan Knutson was born May 1, 1928, in Erhards Grove Township, to Eddie and Esther (Rasmussen) Knutson. Harlan was baptized and confirmed at Central Lutheran Church in rural Pelican Rapids. After graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1945, he was a dairy farmer like his father Eddie and grandfather. He also worked for Park Region Co-op delivering fuel. He was a warehouseman at Lake Region Electric retiring in 1990. On June 20, 1954, Harlan was united in marriage to Lorraine Westby; they had four children, Connie, Linda, Judy and James. Lorraine passed away in 1993. On June 8, 1995, Harlan was united in marriage to Elaine (Bakken) Mavis.Harlan's hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and sports. He enjoyed playing football in high school and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play basketball and other sports. He took great joy in attending church and visiting with friends, neighbors and family.Harlan is survived by his wife Elaine Knutson, Pelican Rapids; daughters: Connie (Brian) Evenson, Pelican Rapids, Linda (Donal Key) Canyon, Albuquerque, NM, Judy (Bob) Miner, Glencoe, MN and James (Jil) Knutson, Denver, CO; step-children: Marianna (Wayne) Thompson, Devils Lake, ND, Michael Mavis, Erhard, and Marcella Mavis, Phoenix, AZ; 13 grandchildren: Janelle (Nathan) Berseth, Jonah (Erin) Evenson, Andrew Evenson, Michael (Rachel) Meyer, Ben Meyer and Maria Meyer, Hannah and Maren Miner, Dustin (Jody), Jacob ( Kelly) and Levi (Maura) Knutson, Candace (Garrett) Schopper, and Matthew Thompson; four great-grandchildren: Christine and Rebecca Knutson, Bianca Berseth and Cora Evenson; sister: Arlene Haarstick, Vergas; sisters-in-law: Melinda Carlson, Inez (LeRoy) Johnson, Ann Westby, Audrey Westby and Char Berg; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Lorraine, sister Lois Berg, and foster son Roger Knutson.Funeral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
