Arlene Elizabeth Albrecht

Arlene Albrecht, age 85, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at her home in Pelican Rapids. Arlene Elizabeth Ruether was born October 9, 1930, to Joseph and Josephine (Larson) Ruether at home near Madison, MN. She grew up and attended school in Madison and graduated in 1948. She worked at Hanson Chevrolet in Madison for a few years until getting married. On August 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jerome Albrecht at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Madison. They made their home in Bellingham, MN, for a few years. They later moved to a farm near Graceville, Minnesota, where they farmed for twenty years. While living in Graceville, MN, she worked as the first woman land surveyor in the county. Jerome and Arlene then moved to Pelican Rapids where they have lived for over 30 years. They established Albrecht Realty. She worked at Herberger's in Fergus Falls for many years. She was an active member of St. Leonard's Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, did a lot of sewing, and enjoyed painting. Over the years she and Jerome enjoyed traveling to many different places. Family was very important to her, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings. She is survived by children, Jolene (Rod) Mendelsohn of Santa Cruz, CA, Jay Albrecht of Peshtigo, WI, Joan (David) Stene of Dayton, MN, Jeff Albrecht of Sanger, TX, Jerianne Albrecht of Ulen, MN, and Jon Albrecht of Pelican Rapids; eight grandchildren, Steven (Mandy) Albrecht, Sarah Albrecht, James Albrecht, Stephanie (Carter) Woodley, Erica Stene, Matt Albrecht, Nathan Mendelsohn and Rachael Stene; great-grandchildren, Xavier Albrecht and Genesis Albrecht; nine siblings: Donald (Diane) Ruether, Montevideo, MN, Jeanette Sachs, Appleton, MN, John (Janet) Ruether, Montevideo, Gail Baldwin, Montevideo, Wayne (Carol) Ruether, Appleton, Carolyn (Leonard) Meyers, Appleton, Gregory Ruether, Appleton, Mary (Charles) Kelly, Coon Rapids, MN, Larry Ruether, Alexandria, MN, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome in 2011, her parents; son, James Albrecht and infant son, John Albrecht; granddaughter, infant Josephine Stene. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at St. Leonard's Catholic Church in Pelican Rapids, MN with Father Stan Wieser presiding. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Monday, October 26, at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Burial will follow in St. Leonard Cemetery.
