Arland Willie Elton

Arland Willie Elton was born on March 7, 1926 in Pelican Rapids the son of Willie and Nora (Johnson) Elton. In 1944, Arland graduated from Pelican Rapids High School and in June of 1944 entered the Air Force. He was trained as a top turret gunner on a B24. He served until 1946. On June 20, 1948 he married the love of his life Kathryn Lee at Ringsaker Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Arland and Kathryn both graduated from Concordia College in 1950. He worked for his father-in-law Leonard Lee at Lee Chevrolet. In 1958, he started Elton Insurance Agency and remained there until his retirement. Arland loved sports and was a star athlete in football, basketball, track and golf. At age 28, he contracted polio and fought hard to regain his strength. Golf was the sport he could regain and enjoyed and excelled in for over 60 years winning many tournaments, awards and club championships. Arland was a founding member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Pelican Rapids and held various positions there. He was a member of Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, and Birchwood Golf Men's League. He enjoyed watching sports, woodworking, spending time at the cottage on Prairie Lake and time with his family. Arland Elton, age 89, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota passed away into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ having been surrounded with his family, on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Pelican Valley Nursing Center in Pelican Rapids. Arland is survived by a son Dan (Dawn) Elton, Moorhead; daughters; Lorrie (Bard) Miller, Pelican Rapids and Bonnie (Duane) Siverson, Moorhead; eight grandchildren; Ryan (Ann) Elton, Ria (Tim) Czichotzki, Taylor Elton, Aaron (Heather) Miller, Andrew (Stacie) Miller, Austen (Kathy) Miller, Tyler Siverson, Jordan Siverson; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother Wayne (Solveig) Elton, brother-in-law DeWayne Lee, and several nieces and nephews.Arland is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn on May 25, 2014, parents Willie and Nora Elton; two infant sons both named Ron Murray, niece Kristi (Elton) Montplaisir, brother-in-law Wetzel Lee, and several sisters-in-law.
