Robert "Smiley" Smilonich

Robert "Smiley" Smilonich, age 84, of Pelican Rapids, MN died on Tuesday, December 08, 2015 at his home in Pelican Rapids.Robert Smilonich, was born March 4, 1931 near Ironton, Minnesota to Sam and Sophie (Lubobradovich) Smilonich. "Smiley" worked for Rogers Brothers Carnival from Pelican Rapids for numerous years. Then Robert worked at West Central Turkey Plant in Pelican Rapids for many years. During this time he also worked for local farmers loading turkeys and owned and operated his lawn care business. "Smiley" was a friend to many and was always willing to help his friends when they needed him. He enjoyed fishing with his friends, socializing at the Pool Hall and spending time with his pets.Robert is survived by his brother George Smilonich, Deer Lodge, Montana; five nephews: David Smilonich, Nicki Smilonich, Bob Manning, Roderick Smilonich and Gregory Smilonich; and a niece Nadeen Briggs.He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Leonard, Eli, Nick, Milan and Buddy; and sister Nada Manning.Pallbearers: Earl Carlson, Gerald Grefsrud, Chet Nettestad and Bob UhrigVisitation: Friday, December 11, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
