Janet Dorothy Thorstenson

Janet Thorstenson, 69, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Thursday, February 4, 2016 in her home.Janet Dorothy was born February 15, 1946 to Joe and Dorothy (Motschenbacher) Soland of Pelican Rapids, MN, the oldest of ten children. She graduated from Moorhead High School, Moorhead, MN in 1964.On July 2, 1965 Janet married Duane Thorstenson at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last summer. Their son, Gary, was born in 1967. They made their home in Fargo until moving to Tamarac Lake in the early 1970s. Janet worked at Larry's Super Market in the meat department, and then on the box line at the West Central Turkey Plant. Janet was a member of Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doing cross stitch, and gardening. She was especially proud of her hybrid irises. Janet is survived by her husband, Duane of Pelican Rapids; son, Gary of Pelican Rapids; three grandchildren: Joanna, Jac, and Emma; sisters: Joan Danielson, Monroe, WA, Annette (Steve) Hendershot, Parkers Prairie, MN, Theresa (Dan) Keimig, Moorhead, MN, and Amy (Mike) Bah, Round Lake, MN, brothers: Russell (Mary) Soland, Elizabeth, MN, Loren (Norma) Soland, Fairbanks, Alaska, Aaron (Aggie) Soland, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Michael Soland, Florida, sister-in-law, Carole (James) Dunn; brothers-in-law: Ardean Thorstenson, and Harley (Mona) Thorstenson; aunts: Maxine Schmidt, Margie Erickson, and Ruby Eggermont; and several nieces and nephews.
