Verna Cecelia Ballard

Verna Ballard, age 93, a resident of Fergus Falls, Minnesota formerly of Pelican Rapids passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Park Gardens in Fergus Falls, Minnesota under the care of her family and Lakeland Hospice.Verna Cecelia Fredrickson was born September 25, 1922 near Barnesville, Minnesota the daughter of John and Johanne (Sether) Fredrickson. She attended a country school near Barnesville. Verna worked for a furrier in Moorhead. Then Verna was employed at a restaurant in Moorhead while caring for her parents due to health reasons.On December 14, 1949 Verna was united in marriage to George Ballard. Through the years Verna raised her family and owned and operated the farm with George.Verna enjoyed gardening, flower gardening and baking. She was a member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Pelican Rapids.Verna is survived by her husband George of Fergus Falls; her son Greg Ballard, Pelican Rapids; 3 daughters: Georgine (Richard) Robinson, Hastings, MN, Brenda Rasmussen, Rothsay, and Pam Ballard, Fergus Falls; 8 grandchildren:Teri (Greg) Bontjes, Danielle (Heidi Paulson) Ballard, Megan (Jim) Viele, Christine (Jared) Sachs, Michelle Robinson, Wendy Stoll, Stacy Scheer and Nikki Scheer; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her great-grandson Jameson; daughter-in-law Donna Ballard; son-in-law Keith Rasmussen; and 10 siblings.Memorials are preferred to North Immanuel Lutheran Church.A special thank you to the staff at Park Gardens for their loving and compassionate care for Verna.Visitation: Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., at North Immanuel Lutheran Church.
