Wayne Griep, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his home near Pelican Rapids, MN. Wayne was born on June 11, 1937 to Benard and Elsie (Abraham) Griep in Isanti, MN. When he was younger Wayne farmed with his father. From 1961 to 1963 Wayne served in the United States Army. On October 29, 1963 Wayne was united in marriage with Janice Harper. They made their home in Crystal, MN. Wayne worked at Kline Auto and Witte's Radiator in Minneapolis for several years. Wayne and Janice started Wayne's Auto and Truck Service in New Hope, MN. Together they ran that for about 20 years. In the early 1970's, Wayne and Janice bought property on South Lake Lida. Over the years, they and the family built their retirement home. They retired to the Lake in the early 1990's. Wayne loved boating, crossword puzzles, and fixing mechanical items. Wayne and Janice were avid fishermen, who rarely missed an opening fishing day, even in the snow. Wayne and Janice enjoyed bowling on a league for many years and dancing together. Wayne also enjoyed hunting and he looked forward to the summer when he could do some gardening.He is survived by his six children: Ed Wolff, Maple Grove, MN, Janelle (Chuck) Bordieri, Dayton, MN, Cathy Rogers, Champlin, MN, Brenda (Mike Harper-Brain) Harper, Rogers, MN, Dawn Purland, Foley, MN, Michele (Bob) Richards, Orlando, FL; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley and Dorothy; two sisters-in-law: Jeannine and Joyce; and numerous nieces and nephews.
