Milo Pierce, 69, a resident of Pelican Rapids, died on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Pelican Rapids with Dorothy Ross officiating. Burial will follow in East Lake Lida Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00.Milo Alvin Pierce was born January 16, 1947 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Milton Pierce, Sr. and Edvina (Johnson) Pierce. He went to school in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota and Pasco, Washington. He grew up on a farm near Maplewood State park near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He married Lavonne Buchholz in August, 1966 and they had two girls, Sandy and Sherry. In August, 1971 he married Carolyn Slightom in Othello, Washington and they had three children, Terry, Martin, and LaDonna. They lived in Kennewick, Washington until 1974 and have lived on the family farm near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota since that time.Milo worked various labor jobs in Washington and farmed and worked for Ballard Sanitation in Pelican Rapids until his retirement in 2011. Milo had a passion for NASCAR, enjoyed fishing, and mowing the lawn that overlooked the lake on their family farm.Milo is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn Pierce; children Sandy Pierce-McCune (Terry Goeser) of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Sherry Dehne of Chaffee, North Dakota, Terry Pierce-Hofius (Chuck) of Perham, Minnesota, Martin Pierce (Julia) of Long Lake, New York, and LaDonna Pierce of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Grandchildren Connor McCune, Kaie McCune, Travis Dehne, Andrew Dehne, Garrett Adrover, Ashley Hofius, Tanner Hofius and Austin Pierce; Sisters Ann Spanjer (Doug) and Cindy Smoot (Gerald); and one brother Milton Pierce, Jr. (Candy).Preceding him in death are his father Milton Pierce, Sr.; His mother Edvina Nolting; and his special aunt and uncle Fern and Cliff Hanson.Funeral Home: Larson Funeral Home 304 3rd Street S.E.
