Alberta "Bert" Holtgrewe, age 81, a resident of rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Alberta "Bert" Ann Holtgrewe was born September 24, 1934 in Breckenridge, MN to Harry and Gladys Baker. She grew up on the Breckenridge area along with her three sisters, Vera Mae, Dora, and Georgette. She married George Holtgrewe on July 26th, 1954 in Breckenridge, MN. They lived in Indianapolis before returning to Minnesota and settling on a property near Pelican Lake where they built a comfortable home with a large garage and shop. Alberta took pride in the home she and George built with their own hands. The huge garden was always well tended and her flower garden was her pride and joy. They raised two sons, Jim and Dan and took joy in teaching them to hunt on the property. Alberta enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, embroidery, visiting with friends and neighbors and doting on her beagle, Pepper, and her two granddaughters, Paige and Hannah. For extra spending money she spent many years caring for people's lake homes in the area. Alberta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church near Franklin Lake and spent many years there teaching Sunday School. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dora, and her husband George. Alberta is survived by her two sons: Jim (Therese Zens) Holtgrewe of Eldersburg, MD and Dan (Kristine) Holtgrewe of Pelican Rapids; her two granddaughters: Paige of Parkville, MD and Hannah of Morgantown, WV; two sisters: Vera Mae Crumlette and Georgette Craddolph, both of Pasadena, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband George, parents: Harry and Gladys Baker, and sister Dora Johnson.Private Family Services will held at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids.Funeral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
