Laverne Van Norman

Laverne Norman, 86, died on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at The Cottages in Ecumen Community in Detroit Lakes, MN surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, MN with Rev. Dale Pepelnjak officiating. Inurnment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday. Laverne Van Norman was born on January 25, 1930 to Otis and Mabel (Sjaaheim) Norman in Roseau, MN. He attended school and graduated from Roseau High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to LaMae Elizabeth Lisell on March 8, 1952. Laverne had a long and successful career in banking in Roseau, Stephen, and culminating as president of the People's State Bank in Warren. He retired in 1994. He was a loving and generous man, whose life touched many people. He lived a life of faith in Jesus, with grace and humor. He is survived by his wife of 64 years.
