Dianne Kimm

Dianne Kimm, 79, a resident of Pelican Rapids, died on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.Dianne Kimm, born Jean Dianne Larson, was born on October 1, 1937 to Ivan and Olga Larson at Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Bridgewater, SD, LeMars, IA and Moorhead, MN, graduating from the Campus School at Moorhead State Teacher's College in 1956 and from Concordia College in 1960. She taught at Abercrombie, ND and at Dakota Business College, Fargo, ND.In 1959, she married Frank Kimm. They lived in Wolverton, MN until moving to Pelican Rapids, MN in 1963. They divorced in 1997. Dianne and Frank raised three children: Brian (Barb) Kimm, Ann Anderson (Scott Ackland) and Robert (Sara) Kimm. They have eight grandchildren: Jason Kimm, Benjamin (Ashley) Kimm, and Daniel Kimm, children of Brian and Barb Kimm; Michael (Kathryn) Anderson and Meghan Anderson, children of Ann and Pat Anderson; and Morgan Riddle Kimm, Marcy Dammann and Ethan Kimm, children of Robert and Sara Kimm; and two great-grandchildren, Cullen Anderson and Samuel Kimm.Other survivors include her sister, Lois (Vern) Smerud; nieces: Susan (Jeff) Brusseau, Kristin (Mike) Helm, Mary (Tim) Hager, Lisa (Roger) Erickson, and Beth Olsgaard; nephew: Dan Carlson. She also leaves many amazing friends who have been like family over the years.Dianne was a member of the Pelican Rapids School Board for 33 years. She did substitute teaching and was a legal secretary. She began working with the refugees in Pelican Rapids as a volunteer in the late 1980s. In 2000, she became the Program Manager for the Lutheran Social Services Refugee Program in Pelican Rapids. After retirement from LSS, she returned to work again as a volunteer with the Multicultural Resource Center in Pelican Rapids.Dianne was a recipient of the 1998 Woman of Distinction, KVLY-TV11 Womens Business Institute; Virginia McKnight Binger Awards in Human Service, 1997 and the Concordia Alumni 2008 award.Visitation: Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. with an Interfaith Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MNClergy: Pastor Scott BlockFuneral Home: Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota Dianne Kimm's Folder
