Vivian Brickson

Vivian Brickson, 91, Pelican Rapids, formerly Detroit Lakes died on January 4, 2017 at the Riverfront on Main in Pelican Rapids.Vivian Agnetta Brickson was born October 18, 1925 to Clara (Grani) Brickson and Bernt Brickson near Lake Park, Minn.Vivian was baptized at Solum Lutheran Church in Lake Park and confirmed at Atlanta Lutheran Church near Ulen, Minn.Vivian attended country school at District 113, Spring Creek Township. When she was in her teen years, the family moved to Detroit Lakes, Minn. She worked at Bell Telephone retiring from there, and then worked part-time at Rossman Elementary School in Detroit Lakes. Vivian was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes and enjoyed being part of the Bible studies and the quilter's group. Since becoming a resident of Riverfront Manor, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Viv had no children of her own, but is survived by many nieces and nephews, many who thought of her as a second 'Mom'. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with them attending birthdays, Christmases, baptisms, confirmations, graduations, weddings, and finally enjoying her great nieces and nephews. She crafted gifts for her family, knitting, needlepoint, hardanger, and making Christmas stockings. Viv enjoyed visiting, having coffee and putting puzzles together with special friends at Riverside on Main. Viv's quick wit, always ready to giggle at jokes and funny stories, was always 'up' on politics, and what was happening in the world. Viv always remembered birthdays and special occasions with a card and a phone call. Her positive attitude and reminders that 'age is just a number' carried her throughout her 91 years of life. Auntie Vivie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by sister-in-law Arthrelda "Art" Brickson, Detroit Lakes, MN; and many nieces, nephews and their families.She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings; Beatrice (Shannon), Margaret (Archie), Clifton, Ernest (Gloria), Kermit (Phyllis), Arvid, and Agnes (Virgil).Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MNVisitation: One hour prior to service at the church.Clergy: Pastor Scott BlockBurial: Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, MNFuneral Home: Larson Funeral Home 304 3rd Street S.E.
