David Roy Gilbertson

David Roy Gilbertson was born July 5, 1944 in Fergus Falls, MN, to Christian and Selma (Gilbertson) Gilbertson. He grew up in rural Erhard and attended country school through the 6th grade. The family moved to Fergus Falls in 1956 where he attended school from 7th grade through most of his sophomore grade. The family moved back to rural Erhard. He attended school in Pelican Rapids and graduated there in 1962.David entered the Navy in June 1962 and served until July 1965. When he returned from the Navy, he worked at Univac, a computer mfg. company in St. Paul. In August of 1966 David married Marilyn Bahls. They moved to Buffalo, MN where he worked at Buffalo Radio & TV. In 1970 they moved back to Pelican Rapids and David worked for Harding's TV and Appliance. From 1971 to 1978 he worked at Coast to Coast, repairing TV's and doing electrical work. He received his A masters license in 1976 and bought out Coast to Coast's electrical business in 1978. He owned and operated Dave's Electric until his retirement in 2007.David was a member of St. Leonard's Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 0017, Maplewood Bass Club, Pool Hall Gang, O.A.K.S. Driver and past member of the J.C.'s.David enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with people. David loved to play with grandkids, great-grandkids and kids in general.David Roy Gilbertson, 72, passed away on January 22, 2017 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, MN.David is survived by his wife Marilyn of 50 years; two children: Greg (Peggy) of Pelican Rapids, Rhonda Jo (Brian) Gilbertson Evans of Moorhead; four grandchildren: Amanda Gilbertson, Megan (Caden) Summers, Eric Gilbertson, Alexis Evans and two great-grandchildren: Dru Gilbertson, Maxwell (Evans) Henricksen, and one more coming in July; brothers: Bennet (LaVae) Gilbertson, Spearfish, SD, Gary Gilbertson, Erhard, MN; sister: Ann (Keith) Johnson, Fosston, MN; sister-in-law: Barb (Jay) Petrin; brother-in-law: Jerry (Linda) Bahls; sister-in-law: Ann (Joel) Bratvold; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017 at St. Leonard Catholic Church, Pelican Rapids, MNMemorial Gathering: One hour prior to service at the church.Father: Celebrant Stan Wieser and Concelebrant Jeff Ethen Burial: St. Leonard Catholic Cemetery Honorary Pallbearers: Bob and Fran Fitzgerald, Bob and LeVon Strom, DuWayne and Darlene Strom, George and Nancy Cummings, Dave and Marsha Thorson, Gary and Nancy Emery, Ervin and Linda Emery, Robert and Elsie Emery and Jim and Dianne SzarkePlease keep the Gilbertson family in your thoughts and prayers.Funeral Home: Larson Funeral Home 304 3rd Street S.E.
