Florence Knorr

Florence Irene Knorr, age 93, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on February 20, 2017 under the care of Lakeland Hospice and the Pelican Valley Health Center. Florence was born on December 6, 1923 in Moorhead, MN. She was the daughter of William and Ruby(Wadekamper) Wright. She attended school in Moorhead graduating in 1942. During World War II she lived in Minneapolis and worked for International Harvester building artillery shells. She returned to Moorhead after the War and began working as a bookkeeper for Sears Roebuck. She met Edwin Knorr in 1946. They were married on May 6, 1950. They lived in Fargo after their marriage. They purchased their farm near Pelican Rapids in 1951. Upon moving to the farm she worked alongside of Edwin on the farm. She retired from farming in 1991. Edwin passed away in 1992. She was an active member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church, served as 4H Leader, member of Homemakers, enjoyed gardening and growing African violets. She did ceramics for many years. She enjoyed taking bus trips around the United States with her sister during retirement. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved spending time with family.Florence is survived by her children: Sandra (Thomas) Bennett, Wahpeton, ND and Bradley (Jane) Knorr, Pelican Rapids, MN; seven grandchildren: Ryan (Bri) Bennett, Orono, MN, Adam (Laura) Bennett, West Fargo, ND, and Cassidy (Milton) Taylor, West Fargo, ND, Maggie Knorr, Kuala Berang, Malaysia, Johanna Knorr, Reilly Knorr and Logan Knorr, Minneapolis, MN; five great-grandchildren: Shaylen and Declan Bennett, Jaxon and Sutton Bennett, and Jaya Taylor; one sibling Wallace (Flo) Wright, Moorhead, MN; sisters-in-law: Marlene Ames, Fargo, ND, Delores Knorr, Moorhead, MN, Mildred Knorr, Moorhead, MN, Vivian Sund, Camens Island, WA; brother-in-law Donald (Gladys) Knorr, Bluffton, SC., and nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Knorr; parents, William and Ruby Wright; siblings: Lawrence (Dorothy) Wright and Myrtle (Lowell) Burton; Edwin's siblings: Leonard Knorr, Robert (Delores) Knorr, Grover Knorr, and Dorothy Knorr; and brothers-in-law: Richard Ames and Harold Sund.Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017, at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Burial: North Immanuel Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Clergy: Pastor Ethan FearingFuneral Home: Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MinnesotaOrganist: Bonnie HarryPallbearers: Reilly Knorr, Logan Knorr, Ryan Bennett, Adam Bennett, Marvin Wright, Bruce BurtonPlease keep the Knorr family in your thoughts and prayers.
