Lyle R. Tweten, age 89, a resident of Pelican Rapids, formerly of Vergas, MN died on March 23, 2017 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Detroit Lakes, MN.Lyle grew up in Fosston, MN where he attended elementary and high schools. At age 17 he started Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. After two years there, he did a stint in the US Army. He then received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. He was married to Yvonne Sauers and together they raised three daughters, Patrice, Michelle, and Suzanne.Lyle worked for Cass Clay Creameries in Moorhead before he was transferred to Minneapolis. In time Lyle took a job with Federal Agriculture in Washington, D.C. He held this position for thirty years until he joined his wife in the Belgian Congo, Africa. There he taught English, learned to speak Belgian French, and headed a staff landscaping the US Embassy!They returned to their Spirit Lake property and started a very successful Bed and Breakfast. He lost his late wife, Yvonne, to ALS in 2006 and married Yvonne Palmer in 2008.
