Kenneth Sather

Kenneth Sather, age 86, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Fergus Falls Veterans Home, Fergus Falls, MN. Kenneth Dale Sather was born September 19, 1930 in Pelican Rapids to Magnus and Laura (Langseth) Sather. He was baptized and confirmed at Grove Lake Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids. Growing up Kenneth helped his parents on the family farm. In 1948 he graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. From 1954 to 1956 Kenneth served stateside in the U.S. Army as a tank instructor during the Korean War. On June 10, 1956 Kenneth married Donna Mae Nelson at North Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together they raised 5 children. Kenneth owned and operated a dairy and grain farm for many years. In his later years, he worked for Rick Evenson on the farm. Donna Mae died July 14, 2011 at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home. Kenneth was a lifelong member at Grove Lake Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Pelican Pool Hall. Kenneth also liked playing cards. He spent a lot of his time tinkering and working on the Airstream travel trailer getting ready for deer hunting season. For many years Kenneth went to Tenstrike during deer hunting season with family and friends.Kenneth is survived by his children: Mary (Michael) Stoltman, Detroit Lakes, MN, Julie (Lee) Livdahl, Pelican Rapids, MN, Elaine (Earl) Ehalt, Sabin, MN, David (Jennifer) Sather, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Diane Sather, Savage, MN; 10 grandchildren: Gabriel and Nicholas Stoltman, Spencer and Hope Livdahl, Parker and Amanda Blanchard, Ryan and Alyssa Sather, Brooke and Lauren Nelson; two step grandchildren: Molly Ehalt and Emily Ehalt; step great-granddaugher Sophie Heck; sisters: Margaret Kjer, Edina, MN, and JoAnn (Edward) Johnson, Erhard, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Mae; parents; sister, Jean (Chester) Gulstad; and brother-in-law, Morgan Kjer.Visitation: Thursday, April 13, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
