Ernest Julian Evenson

Ernest Julian Evenson, age 100, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Pelican Valley Health Center, Pelican Rapids, MN.Ernest Julian Evenson was born January 13, 1917 in Wilkin County, MN, the son of Edward and Christine (Haugtvedt) Evenson. He attended country school through 8th grade.Ernest married Olga (Anderson) June 22, 1946 at Rollag Lutheran Church. They made Pelican Rapids their home. He farmed with his dad and brothers until 1946 when he found his dream job at Lake Region Electric Co-op where he worked until 1979 when he retired. After retirement he enjoyed going to "The Farm", cutting wood, ice fishing, gardening, camping, visiting with family and friends. He was also involved with The Steam Thresher Reunion and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.Ernest is survived by his son, David (Deanna) Evenson, Detroit Lakes, MN; son, Kerry (Karla) Evenson, Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter, Karen (Steve) Jaschke, St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren: Ben, Gabe, Lesley, Nikki, Amy, Justin, Krista, Mitchell, and Madison; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Arvid Evenson, Pelican Rapids, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.Ernest is preceded in death by his wife, Olga (Anderson); son, Dennis; parents: Edward and Christine Evenson; brothers: Roy and Garnet, sisters: Inga Julsrud, Lenora Dalager, Miranda Lahlum, Mildred Honrud, Hazel Hutchinson, and Vivian McArdell.
